Considering QuickTime 6? Before you make a big and expensive boo-boo,
consider this:

If you need the QuickTime Pro features you're going to have to cough up at
least another $29.99. QuickTime Pro keys for versions 4 or 5 are worthless
to QuickTime 6. You need to buy a new key.

But wait; there's more. If you want to play MPEG-2 content, you'll have to
shell out an additional $19.99 for the special OS X secret MPEG-2 decoder
ring.

And that's not all: If you need to play MPEG-2 content under Mac OS 9,
you'll have to shell out ANOTHER $19.99 to get an MPEG-2 decoder ring for
Mac OS 9 — the one you bought for OS X is worthless in OS 9.

Finally, if you use Final Cut Pro, you definitely don't want to install
version $ix. Apple says, “QuickTime 6 has not been qualified for use with
Final Cut Pro… you should continue to use QuickTime 5.x.”

Oh, and here's one last tip… if you already made the big boo-boo, Apple's
got you covered: You can download the official QuickTime 5 Reinstaller for
Mac OS X at http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n120084.

Well, the wife beat me at chess again. She's truly amazing. I also saw a little bit of her competitive side. She tries to make me feel better, but I know she can whip me any time. I was well consoled by Blue Bell Cookies & Cream, though. Feeling much better now. ;-)

G'night – andy
